Evolved Packed Core is a flat, efficient, IP-based core network architecture, which supports the next generation of mobile broadband. Combined with LTE access networks, Evolved Packet Core will provide a whole new experience for Saudi users, with true broadband access virtually anywhere and a rich variety of multimedia applications. Abdul Aziz Al Tamami, Mobily’s Chief Operations Officer, says: “The decision to adopt Ericsson’s Evolved Packet Core solution was a natural progression for us. We’ve had a longstanding relationship with Ericsson and are well aware of the level of services and return on investment the company can offer as we continue to work toward ensuring that our subscribers are given access to the latest in telecommunications technology.” The main driving forces behind Evolved Packet Core are the rapid adoption of mobile broadband, as well as the requirements of new multimedia services and machine-to-machine (M2M) applications. Mobily has recognized that these factors call for increased capacity and improved performance in the core network, and the new solutions are set to allow more than 20 million subscribers in Mobily to experience the benefits of an enhanced telecommunications network across the Kingdom. Ali Eid, President of Ericsson, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, says: “Mobily will introduce the industry’s most advanced Evolved Packet Core solutions. These innovative solutions are designed by Ericsson to provide reliability and scalability giving Mobily the flexibility needed to meet the fast-growing demand for mobile broadband services in the kingdom.” We’re glad to be taking our partnership with Mobily even further and supplying them with this latest technology, which is set to boost efficiency and prepare Mobily’s network for a smooth migration as part of realizing the Networked Society vision in the kingdom.” Ericsson has led the introduction of every packet core technology from GPRS to LTE/EPC. The Ericsson Evolved Packet Core is optimized to cope with the increased uptake of mobile broadband and to secure a smooth evolution to all-IP networks. More than 300 operators in 150 countries rely on Ericsson’s Packet Core solutions to offer new, compelling and efficient multimedia services. Related Articles: |
